"Jean-François Jacques has excelled at whimsical furniture since he entered the design scene in the early eighties. After completing a Bachelor of Environmental Design at the Université du Québec à Montréal in 1982, he became one of many Quebec designers to vault from interior design into product design. He opened Météore Design in 1983 in Montreal and began making playful objects in small quantities (Zenith lamp, Blender bowl).
In 1994 the City of Montreal named Jacques Designer of the Year. Four years later, he won (with Claude Maufette) Alcan's AluDesign competition for AL 27, a prototype for an all-aluminum chair. His designs include Baby Face chair and the Bowling chair (both 1993), for DISMO International, and kitchen products for Trudeau Corporation."
