"In September 1950, the largest proprietary line for plastics in Canada was
kitchenware.71 By far the most attention up to then had been on tableware. The
first consumer line to be molded in Canada was by General Plastics Ltd., Toronto
in 1942. This company quoted on and received the first government order for
melamine dinnerware."
