Description
The Squirrel computer is the first backlit LCD touch screen terminal for the food-services industry. An all-in one design which incorporates credit card verification and waiter identification, it is used in restaurants throughout North America. Exhibited in “Canada Designs for the World” exhibition. The Squirrel restaurant management system was planned, designed and developed in Vancouver starting in mid-1984 by Postech Corporation. In May 1989, the rights to the Squirrel product were acquired by Squirrel Companies, Inc. of Atlanta, Georgia. Squirrel Companies of Canada Ltd. was formed and continues to be based in Vancouver, Canada. (ID Magazine Annual Review, 1991).
