Description
"The design was manufactured from 1948 onwards ... [the designers] focused on moulded plywood ... which they were familiar with because it had appeared in Mosquito bombers. Working with the National Research Laboratory, they designed veneered chair legs that could resist five tons of pressure before breaking -- about the same strength as steel."
