Description
"Two major fascinations of the post-war era are exemplified in Dodd’s simple school chair: moulded plywood and industrial design. The angled bull-nose bend of the back legs is echoed in the opposite curve of the front seat frame and creates a dynamic design. The chair is strong and durable reinforced by hidden wood slats and exposed screws, all finely crafted and sensitively positioned.

The stacking chair won third prize in the National Industrial Design Competition (1952). Aero Marine Industries Ltd. also produced a small run (under 100) of Lawrie McIntosh’s moulded plywood chair with metal rod legs, which won first prize in the same competition, and Frank Dudas’ steel and wood desk. The stacking chair also came with arms."
