Biography
"Known for their fastidious detailing and sculptor's sensitivity to form, the brothers Aldo and Francesco Piccaluga are architects and interior designers who occasionally create custom furniture and lighting for their innovative projects. Their only mass-produced furniture, the System Sigma Series table and chairs, ironically were used in malls across North America.

The brothers studied architecture and design at the University of Rome, graduating in the late fifties. They opened their first studio in the sixties in Beirut (where their father was stationed as an Italian diplomat) and helped to introduce the city to European modernism. In 1968, on the design strength of Expo 67, they emigrated to Canada and established a small practice in Toronto. Their interiors in the fashion, advertising and restaurant industries have been widely published internationally. The brothers have also designed low-cost housing projects."
