Description
"Russell Spanner (an amateur boxer) joined his father’s company [Spanner Products Limited] in 1941. Apart from evening classes at Ryerson Institute of Technology, he was a self-taught designer. In the early 1950s, he introduced several of his modern designs, notably Ruspan Originals."
"Expert Robert Fones favours Russell Spanner’s Originals line because the design’s boxy geometric style, and assembly technique represent an innovative reinterpretation of the company’s initial product-line, the battery box."
