Music console cabinet made of stained wood veneered particleboard. The cabinet doors house two EMI speakers and storage space for records separated by vertical wood shelving. The right top panel is lifted by a groove carved into the panel located on the right side of the unit. The groove is on the underside, so it does not impede the console’s smooth, flat top surface. The panel reveals two cavities, the left housing a Clairtone custom fit radio and the right housing a Garrard RC88/4 turntable.
The Garrard RC88/4 turntable uses an idler drive and allows for record stacking for automatic operation. The records are stacked on the removable record spindle, which stabilizes and holds up to eight records. The record spindle is missing. The turntable can play 7”, 10”, and 12” records. It has 4 set speeds (78, 45, 33, 16). The large record spindle (LRS3) is used for seven inch records and is purchased separately from the base unit. The LRS3 and record spindle can be stored in thin silver metal brackets located on the left side of the turntable cavity. The pickup arm has a tab that rotates the needle to protect it from getting damaged. An adapter can be inserted into the turntable retainer to support 45 RPM records.
